Our Work

Inspiring Healthy Lifestyle’s Creative Development Service is the lead for arts and culture within the district, working in the heart of the community. The service enables investment and partnerships to support the arts, as well as providing guidance and support.

From projects tackling anti-social behaviour to creating visual arts in underpasses, we work with a wide variety of groups and partners to deliver arts and creative projects across the district. We use an array of art forms and creative processes to achieve the required outcomes.

Our work meets many cross-cutting agendas, using arts in its broadest sense to make a real difference in people’s personal development and potential. Example of some of our work, and themes that they support, are shown below:

Creative Communities
The arts are powerful in engaging all ages and abilities and it is extremely cross-cutting in what it can achieve. Disability, health, crime, neighbourhood renewal and cultural diversity are all issues that can be tackled by using the arts. Here are a few examples of how we have used creativity to achieve this:

World War 1 Commemorations

Arts and creativity brought the district together for the commemorations of World War 1.

Arts, Health and Wellbeing
Whether laughing at a performance, dancing around your home, singing to uplifting music, we all know the arts can give us the feel good factor. Even seeing beautiful artwork in a hospital can contribute towards a recovery process. Embracing social inclusion, personal and professional development, these themes are crucial to informing the community about healthy choices.

Cannock Chase Can

We pride ourselves on developing innovative solutions through creative approaches. Cannock Chase Can is an initiative that has been created to help people to improve their health and wellbeing.

Regeneration & Environment
The role the arts play in transforming our environment is valuable and crucial in creating a sustainable community. As well as the aesthetic value the arts provide such as public art, the arts can also help to create a sense of ownership of place. The arts can bring disparate groups together, to work towards a common goal, promoting co-production and engagement.

Access & Inclusion
We ensure that everyone has equal access to our service regardless of their race, ethnic origin, language, gender, disability, age, sexual orientation, marital status, race, religions or non religious belief, family background or any other individual characteristic which may limit a person's opportunities in life. As Cannock Chase is classed as an area of deprivation, we support our community to access arts opportunities, regardless of their ability or background.

Creative Economy
Supporting our local creative industries is at the heart of all our work. We provide pathway opportunities for local people to access training, projects and qualifications to enhance the local economy. We are strong advocates of our local creative industries. Please get in touch if you are a creative professional or graduate, who requires advice and guidance.

Start-up support

Feedback from local creatives highlighted a need for those running small business start-ups/ self employed to receive training in marketing/ social media that was relevant to smaller creative industries. A series of marketing workshops were organised specific to people working in this sector. Sessions ranged from using Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest etc as well as supporting marketing planning.

Temporary Studio Space

Working with national organisation, East Street Arts, we supported artists to access temporary studio spaces in a disused job centre close to Cannock town centre.
