Plan Your Visit

Located on the site of the former Valley Colliery, which later became a mining training centre, the museum is the gateway to the Hednesford Hills Nature Reserve and the ideal starting point for a visit to Cannock Chase, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Whether you’re interested in local coal mining, want a hands-on experience of the history of toys or fancy reminiscing about Granny’s front room, we’ve got something for everyone.

Across the year there are six temporary exhibitions to explore, including a variety of artforms including painting, enamelling, felting and photography, and history exhibitions on special topics. There’s also an exciting events programme bursting with activities for all ages, including our popular Family Days, school holiday activities, murder mysteries, craft workshops, author events, the spectacular VE Day and lots more!

Entry to the Museum of Cannock Chase is free, and there is no need to pre-book your visit.
