Everyday Life in Cannock Chase

The Local History Collection explores everyday life across the Cannock Chase district through objects, ephemera, and photographs, cataloguing the centuries of growth and development of our towns and villages.

From local businesses, shops, pubs, and bakeries, to public services, local government, transport and emergency services, the collection reflects all aspects of public life. It also includes documents from trade unions, friendly societies and even Cannock Workhouse.

Education and More

Education is well documented through objects from local schools and colleges, whilst religious life and churches are represented through a collection of bibles, records and photographs from local congregations. In addition, the collection highlights the contributions of notable individuals and businesses that shaped our district.
