Hobbies and Pastimes
The Leisure and Recreation Collection explores how local people spend their free time, from community events and sports to hobbies and home entertainment.
It includes a large number of toys and games, magazines, and home electronics. Scrapbooks and hobby-related memorabilia offer us a personal view into the pastimes enjoyed by residents across generations.
That's Entertainment
Sports are a strong focus within the collection, with memorabilia from various local clubs, particularly football and athletics. The collection also holds objects from other longstanding sports in the district, such as bowling, horse training and boxing.
The collection features numerous materials from local music and drama societies, including programmes, posters, and ephemera that highlight the area’s vibrant performing arts scene.
A small natural history section including fossils, minerals, and geological samples, along with guidebooks, advertising materials, and publications focused on Cannock Chase’s natural landscape and recreational offerings across different natural locations, including Shoal Hill, the Hednesford Hills and the Chase itself.
