Cannock Park Tales Trail

Discover the new Cannock Park Heritage Trail

Whether you’re a history enthusiast, nature lover or simply looking for a fun family activity, the new Cannock Park Heritage Trail offers a fantastic way to explore one of the district’s most treasured green spaces.

As part of the ongoing improvements to Cannock Park and Cannock Park Golf Course, a series of interpretation panels have been installed throughout the site, helping visitors uncover the rich history, natural environment and unique stories that make the park so special.

Developed by Cannock Chase Council, the project was delivered in close partnership with the Friends of Cannock Park and the Forest of Mercia, helping to create an engaging visitor experience that celebrates the park’s heritage, wildlife and community connections.

Three Unique Trails to Explore

The Heritage Trail experience is made up of three engaging routes, each offering something different for visitors of all ages:

  • Tree Trail

Discover the variety of trees that shape the landscape of Cannock Park. Along the route, visitors can scan QR codes to learn more about the park’s impressive collection of trees and the important role they play in supporting local wildlife.

  • Hear Our Heritage

Step back in time with this audio-led trail, featuring short stories and fascinating insights into the history of Cannock Park and the people who have helped shape it over the years.

  • Cannock Park Tales Trail

Created with the help of local artists, schools and community groups, this imaginative trail brings the park’s stories to life through creative animations, poetry and colourful characters. It offers a unique way for families and young people to engage with local heritage while enjoying a walk around the park.

Interactive family fun....

All three trails can also be completed through the Cannock Chase Can App, allowing visitors to collect QR codes, unlock digital content and earn rewards as they explore. It’s a great way to encourage families to get active, spend time outdoors and learn something new along the way.

The Cannock Park Tales Trail showcases work developed in partnership with local schools and community organisations, making it a truly community-led project that celebrates the creativity and heritage of the area.
